MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — The investigation into the deputies involved in a deadly Friday shooting in Three Way is still under way, and their personnel files contain clean disciplinary records. Both Sgt.Tom Knolton and Sgt. Terry Stewart have no disciplinary incidents recorded aside from a traffic accident where Knolton rear-ended another vehicle. Both officers involved are still on administrative leave, according to Madison County Sheriff John Mehr. Knolton has been with the department since 1995, according to the Madison County Human Resources Department. Stewart was hired in 2000. Dilon C. McGee, 18, was killing during the incident that occurred around 1:30 p.m. Friday. An autopsy will be performed on the teenager, according to the Tennessee Bureau of investigation. Officials say McGee, along with his passenger, 19-year-old Robert Aspiranti, were approached by deputies with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office in the parking lot of 18 Three Way Lane. According to TBI Public Information Officer Susan Niland, they “were identified as individuals they wanted to speak with regarding an ongoing investigation.” McGee attempted to run over the officers, according to Niland. This is when Niland says the vehicle fled the scene, driving across four lanes of traffic before running into a fence on the property of Quality Outdoor Products. Records show McGee had active warrants signed Friday for assault, domestic assault, aggravated robbery and false imprisonment. The investigation is still ongoing, according to the TBI.
