MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Bow hunting season in Tennessee started just five days ago and hundreds of deer already have been killed. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency says through yesterday evening there have been 629 deer killed and tagged in our region, which includes 25 counties. This compared to 682 the same time last year. Officers say hunters help the environment with population control. “If we don’t have a hunting season, our deer would get to such a level that we would have crop damage, disease in the deer without a doubt, so we have to manage the numbers,” said wildlife officer Bubba Spencer with the TWRA. Wildlife officers say to make sure you have the proper license. If you do not, fines range from $200 to $400.
