Madison Co. voters turn out as early voting kicks off

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — More than 500 early ballots were counted Wednesday in Madison County as early voting for the Nov. 4 election kicked off across the state. The Madison County Election Commission said 398 people cast ballots Wednesday, while 126 absentee votes were registered. First-day totals are lower than this time four years ago. In the 2010 November election, 975 ballots were cast on the first day. Election officials urge voters to take advantage of early voting so people are not scrambling on election day. “You never know what might come up and prevent you from voting on election day, so if you’ve taken care of it you don’t have to worry about that,” said Kim Buckley with the Madison County Election Commission. Early voting continues through Oct. 30.
