Dyersburg police: Man shot after being accused of stealing car he was repairing

DYERSBURG, Tenn. — A man is recovering after Dyersburg police say he was pistol whipped and then shot earlier this week. Officers say the incident happened along High Street where Donnie Ham is accused of shooting a man who had done repair work on his car. According to the police report, the victim said when he returned from test driving the car, Ham accused him of stealing it. Ham is accused of shooting into the air, hitting the man in the face with the gun, then shooting him. Ham is charged with attempted murder and will be formally charged Friday.
