Police seek leads in similar Jackson robberies

EAST JACKSON — Officers search for suspects accused of asking for a cigarette then robbing a person in two separate incidents. Police say around 11 p.m. Thursday a man on a bicycle approached the victim on Rhone Street and asked for a cigarette. A second man is accused of then pistol whipping the victim just before three other men joined in the attack. A similar scenario played out a few hours later on Berry Street. The suspect asked for a cigarette and then took the victim’s cell phone and money. Officers did not say if the incidents are connected.
