MEMPHIS, Tenn. — For one West Tennessee girl with a deadly disease, Wednesday was a day all about making her dreams come true. Brylee Holmes wanted to share her one wish with dozens of other children. “She would want to give it to a place that could help other children so they wouldn’t have to go through what she’s going through,” said Stacey Holmes, Brylee’s mother. Brylee has been diagnosed with Batten Disease, a fatal neurological disease. “It begins with blindness,” said Mary Holt, President of the Tennessee Chapter for Batten Disease Support & Research Association. Brylee decided she wanted to share her wish with a $5,000 donation to the Batten Disease Support & Research Association. Holt said she had two children diagnosed with the disease. Holt said a donation like this will help bring families together from across the state. Experts said Juvenile Batten Disease is diagnosed in every two out of 100,000 children.
