Field increases to three in race for Jackson mayor

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — As WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News first told you Monday night, the race for mayor in the city of Jackson is heating up with a third candidate throwing his hat into the ring. James Baxter joins State Senator Lowe Finney in challenging incumbent Jerry Gist in the May election. “This mayor has no fresh ideas. It is time for him to receive a pink slip,” said James Baxter, mayoral candidate. “When I talk to voters around the city, they’re ready for change, and I think people getting into the race is certainly an indication of that,” said mayoral candidate Lowe Finney. “I think the people of this city deserve to have the best mayor they can have. Obviously the more choices you have, the greater the possibility of you electing the right mayor for the right time,” said Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist. The Jackson municipal election is May 5, 2015.
