Teen accused of threatening students faces new gun charge

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — One of the men accused with threatening two Liberty Technology Magnet High School students after a minor traffic accident now faces an additional charge. Randy Montgomery, 19, is now charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, according to court documents. After the Oct. 22 wreck, Montgomery and another man are accused of chasing the two students involved in the accident and then threatening them with guns, police have said. Police responded and say when they patted down Montgomery they found a loaded .357 magnum pistol in his pocket. When police searched the vehicle occupied by Montgomery and the other man, they found a loaded 9 mm pistol in the trunk, 16 grams of marijuana under the seat and a bag of prescription pills in the console with no prescription, according to court documents. Montgomery initially was charged with aggravated assault , unlawful carrying or possession of a weapon and drug offenses, according to court papers.
