Suspect in wife’s death kills self in Kentucky

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (AP) – Police say a Springfield man who admitted killing his wife has killed himself in Kentucky.

Springfield Police Chief David Thompson told The Tennessean that 45-year-old Joseph Parker shot himself inside his car during a traffic stop on Interstate 65 about seven miles north of the Tennessee line.

According to media reports, a man who identified himself as Parker called 911 around 2:45 a.m. Friday and said he had killed his wife two days earlier.

When officers arrived at the home, they found the body of 44-year-old Samantha Parker, but her husband wasn’t there.

The cause of death has not been released. However, authorities have classified the case a homicide.

The state had added Parker to Tennessee’s Top Ten Most Wanted list.
