Code Red Coalition releases statement on recent officer-involved shooting

JACKSON, Tenn. — Recently released reports from the FBI show the number of felony suspects fatally shot by law enforcement is the highest it has been in two decades. That number reached 461 deaths in the year of 2013, according to the report. This shocking statistic hits close to home after Madison County had two fatal police-involved shootings in less than two months. On Wednesday morning, Code Red Coalition released a statement on the latest shooting involving a Jackson man. On Nov. 6, police say Cinque D’jahspora was shot and killed by officer Raymond Bond after he allegedly stabbed Bond. “Moreover in the light of the many recent incidents of police shootings that have occurred in our nation, we appeal to the total community for calm and exercise patience as the investigative process takes its full course and the complete truth is known,” the Rev. Daryll Coleman said. The TBI is currently doing an independent investigation into the shooting.
