Jackson police to increase patrols in target areas

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Police say they are increasing patrols in target areas of Jackson in the wake of recent shootings. Officials with the department say they hope the added presence will keep criminals off the streets. “We have extra officers working these hotspot areas trying to cut down this type of activity,” said Capt. Mike Landreth with the Jackson Police Department. “We’re actually making some personal contact in those areas trying to locate suspects.” The police department says the extra patrols hopefully will help ease the minds of concerned citizens who worry about their safety.
