DYERSBURG, Tenn.– Beau, the dog that has gone viral across the world, may be living his final hours. Beau is scheduled to be euthanized on Thursday after he was deemed vicious in September. Police said Beau attempted to bite an 8-year-old boy, killed a duck and lunged at police officers. Under the city ordinance, a Dyersburg judge ordered the dog to be euthanized. “There is no reason to kill my dog,” Beau’s owner, Danny Higgins, said. “He has done nothing wrong. He is not vicious.” Higgins told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News the city told him he could have his dog moved outside the city limits or abide by the vicious dog ordinance. Higgins and his attorneys plan to appeal the decision Thursday. Lawyers representing Higgins said they have no idea of the possible outcome of Thursdays hearing. “My dog is not vicious. He would never hurt anyone,” Higgins said. “I will prove he is not vicious, and I will do whatever it takes.” Beau’s online petition has reached close to 600,000 signatures in less than two months.
