HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — Authorities in Haywood County said they are investigating the death of a man, leaving his family mourning their loss. According to the Haywood County Sheriff’s Department, Larry Fouse, 25, was found dead in his car Saturday night. WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News spoke with Fouse’s family Monday in Brownsville. “Larry was my baby,” Sarah Jones, Fouse’s mother, said. “He didn’t ever bother nobody that I know of, and I’m really going to miss him.” Some family members said they were in disbelief when they heard the news. “You know, I was like ‘no, it couldn’t be Larry,'” said Fouse’s cousin Terrelle Walker. Deputies responded to the scene at a boat ramp off Highway 76. “We did find a weapon present, and there appeared to be one shot to the body and at this time we’re waiting on forensic reports,” Sheriff Melvin Bond said Monday. What investigators said they are not sure of is how or why it happened. “It was not clearly determined if it was a homicide or a suicide,” Bond said. Family members said they do not think it was suicide. “He wouldn’t hurt himself or nobody else,” Walker said. Fouse’s mother said he would have turned 26 Tuesday. Authorities said they are waiting for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is handling the case.
