Holiday practice is a good sign for Adamsville

ADAMSVILLE, Tenn. – Thanksgiving is traditionally a guilt free day to eat your favorite dishes, spend time with family and maybe watch a little football. In Adamsville, the tradition is a little different. The Cardinals are practicing on the holiday for the fourth straight year. “Every football team wants to be practicing on Thanksgiving,” said head coach Brandon Gray. Because that means your school is still alive in the playoffs. “Such a blessing. It’s not really anything new to us,” said senior Ross Burcham. The holiday morning practice is a reminder to the Cardinals. They’re one step away from playing for a state championship. “We gotta come out focused and play the best game we can play, so we can play next week,” explained Gray. After practice is when the real fun begins. “I don’t have one I just love to eat. I may not look like it, but I just love to eat,” smiled junior Laderrick Means. “Well you know I might like to toss a little turkey,” laughed senior Jacob Dengler. But for Adamsville, their rest will be brief. Friday, it’s back to work in hopes of battling their way to Cookeville through Trenton Peabody. “Just play Adamsville football. Physical and trust in your teammates that will all work out,” said Dengler.
