MIDTOWN JACKSON — The construction of a new sidewalk on North Highland Avenue was delayed Tuesday after the city council decided they would seek more information on the proposals before moving. The proposed sidewalk would be put along North Highland Avenue, extending from Skyline Drive to North Parkway. Officials say this is something that residents in the area have been asking for. “We’ve had a lot of request for a sidewalk on North Highland,” said Keith Donaldson, principal planner with the city. “That was the reason the mayor had originally asked us to seek the multi-modal funding, and the state was gracious enough to offer this type of great program to our community.” The city council approved for three members to meet with the committee to select a proposal and will re-submit it at the next city council meeting.
