Elston personnel file released
MADISON COUNTY, Tenn.-The Madison County Sheriff’s Department released the personnel file for Jerry Elston, the retired Lieutenant indicted Monday on 52 counts of prescription fraud and doctor shopping. The file showed, in his almost 36 years with the department he was suspended twice for disciplinary reasons, however no further explanation was given. The first suspension was from December of 1995. He was suspended for 15 days. The second was in July of 1998 for one day. His file also includes his agreement to the department’s drug-free workplace policy and showed he agreed to a pre-employment drug test when he returned to the department in 2010, after a one-year stint working in Iraq as contract security. It also includes dozens of commendations. Elston retired effective October 1 of this year.
