ADAMSVILLE, Tenn. — A West Tennessee dog adoption center has been warned by the federal government. The USDA warned Shayna Rowe, the owner of Pawsitive Adoption Center in Adamsville on Thursday. Rowe allegedly sold then drove a dog with parvo to New York City without medical clearance. The USDA said if Rowe violates the federal guidelines again she will face a fine of $400 for every dog that crosses state lines. “I got my American Bulldog in early September,” Christina Williams said. “A couple days later, I had to take him to a veterinary hospital where they discovered he had parvo.” Veterinarians say parvo can be extremely deadly. If parvo goes untreated, the fatality rate is 90 percent. “It’s been extremely tough,” Williams said. “This was supposed to be a pleasant experience, but now it has turned into a major issue.” Williams’ dog, Leo, has since returned home. Williams said her dog still is trying to recover and is significantly underweight. Williams’ veterinary bills have piled up to more than $4,000.
