JACKSON, Tenn.- More than a coat. That is the phrase enscribed on the tag of every coat donated by the Jackson Fire Department, Friday. The American Firefighters Association organized the event, donating $1,000 worth of coats to children in the Jackson area. The gifts were made possible using the proceeds from an event earlier this year. “It’s wonderful when you can give a coat to a child, because the biggest thing is we want them to stay warm and if they’re warm they’re happy, which makes home life much better,” said Tony Murdaugh, president of the Jackson Firefighters Association. Fire officials hope for this to become an annual tradition.
