Two men killed in early Sunday head-on collision in Brownsville

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — Two men were killed in a head-on collision early Sunday morning in Brownsville involving a juvenile who had been drinking, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The three-vehicle accident happened just after 4 a.m. on U.S. Highway 79 when a 17-year-old male driving south in a Ford Ranger side-swiped a northbound car before crossing the center line and hitting a northbound Crown Victoria head-on, according to a preliminary report from the THP. The driver of the Crown Victoria, Brushaun Tarver, 29, of Humboldt, was killed along with his one passenger, Joseph Collins, 31, also of Humboldt, the report states. The juvenile had been drinking and also was injured in the crash, according to the report. The driver and three passengers in the car that was side-swiped prior to the collision were not injured, according to the report.
