Christmas light display helps children in need

THREE WAY, Tenn. — A West Tennessee family has brightened up their neighborhood with a light display with a mission. They hope the lights bring good cheer and good tidings for others. Eric Pettigrew and Tiffany Boyett set up the light show for the first time this year, and they are doing it all to give back to children here in West Tennessee. They hope as people flock in to see these spectacular lights they will also drop off a toy that will be given to Ayers Children’s Medical Center. “We decided to do something different from our neighbors this year and get a little festive with Christmas while also giving back to our community,” Boyett said. “It’s also taken a lot of work — over 100 hours of hanging lights.” All that hard work is bringing cheer not only to the neighborhood but also to those who cannot see it for themselves. “Nothing touches my heart more than helping sick children or children in need,” Boyett said. “So we wanted to do a toy drive to help out the children that can’t make it home for Christmas this year.” With hundreds already showing up to support the cause, Boyett said next year will be even better. “We’ve decided that we’re going to go bigger next year,” Boyett said. “We watched the light fight show last night, so we’ve decided to go bigger and better next year.” Tiffany and Eric have a huge present box out on the front lawn that people driving by can drop a toy in. They say they have already collected around 20 toys so far, but they hope to have a lot more by the time they deliver them on Christmas Eve.
