DA-chosen prosecutor pulled from Bobo case

DECATUR COUNTY, Tenn. — One of the attorneys chosen by District Attorney Matt Stowe to help pursue the death penalty in the Holly Bobo case is no longer part of the team. Jennifer Nichols, deputy district attorney general for the 30th Judicial District in Shelby County, was added by Stowe in November to a team specializing in death penalty prosecution in the Bobo case. On Wednesday, Amy Weirich, district attorney for the 30th Judicial District, filed a motion in Decatur County Circuit Court requesting Nichols be removed from the case. Judge Creed McGinley has granted the filing. “A conflict arose as a result of how to proceed with the Holly Bobo case,” Weirich said in a release. The addition of Nichols was part of an effort by Stowe to build a team of attorneys specially qualified for death penalty prosecution.
