BOLIVAR, Tenn.– Property taxes should go down soon for Bolivar, after Mayor Barrett Stevens announced they just received a new ISO rating. The ISO rates areas on how prepared they are for emergencies. According to the ISO scale, ‘1’ is the best possible rating and ’10’ is the worst. “I am so proud of what we have accomplished. They said at first we were to small to improve. Well we were able to do it and we are going to try to continue to drop the rating,” said Chief Lynn Price. According to the report, the rating will now rank the Bolivar Fire Department in the top 17 percent of departments in the entire country. “It makes us feel good, I have to thank all my guys for all the hard work they have done to help accomplish this,” Price said. That rating will also lower property insurance premiums for residents in Bolivar. The report said residents will qualify for reductions based on past claims and credit rating. Mayor Stevens said residents will not enjoy the new benefits until January 1.
