Holiday drivers catch break at gas pumps

JACKSON, Tenn. — Drivers preparing for a holiday road trip are seeing a nice surprise at the pumps. In the Jackson area, gas prices are around $2.28 per gallon. That’s 20 cents less than the national average right now, which sits at $2.48 per gallon. And that’s the lowest it has been in five years. Local drivers say they are pleased with the prices they are seeing at the pump. “They have a tendency to be coming down due to what’s going on with the market,” traveler Darrell Douglas said. “They could possibly be lower, but it’s by far better than it was this time last year.” News reports say U.S. drivers will save an additional $550 next year on gas.
