Woman charged with shoplifting from Jackson Walmart

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A woman was in court Tuesday morning on accusations of stealing from a Jackson Walmart. Kimberly Sykes was arrested Sunday after allegedly trying to take merchandise from Walmart in north Jackson, according to court documents. A loss prevention officer at the store told police he saw Sykes put items into a cart and then attempt to leave the front of the store without paying, documents state. The loss prevention officer then escorted Sykes to the loss prevention office until police arrived and took her into custody, according to the affidavit. Sykes is charged with theft of property under $500. Her bond was set at $1,000.
