JACKSON, Tenn. — Now that 2015 is here, it’s make or break time for many people’s resolutions. For many that means to spend money more wisely. Some experts say the best way to get better is to look to the past. The list of “most regretted purchases” from 2014 can turn into a “do not buy” list for 2015. Women seemed united on a new AARP study, regretting several handbags, books and home party products that just ended up taking up shelf space. Also on that list is season tickets to local teams and organizational tools. We spoke with local Jackson shoppers about how their spending habits might change in the next 12 months. “I want to give more to God, to the church, and I want to do that because I believe putting God first is very important,” Sheila Maclin said. “And then I want to make sure that I pay things on time.” Experts say one easy way to save money is to put $20 into savings once a week, which would add up to more than $1,000 by year’s end.
