JACKSON, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bar Association is pushing for a delay in when divorce filings are made public. The bar association director says the new legislation would close what could be a dangerous gap between cases sometimes becoming public before a responding husband or wife can be served with a protective order. Executive director of Wo/men’s Resource And Rape Assistance Program says it must be done to ensure safety. “I’m sure that the intent is to give the party filing for the divorce sufficient time to make safety arrangements — whatever arrangements might be necessary if there is some concern about danger,” said Daryl Chansuthus, executive director of WRAP. According to CNN, January is National Divorce Month.
