Friends shocked by alleged shooter’s actions

MARTIN, Tenn. – An all day manhunt in Weakly County ends with a”‹ suspected killer behind bars Tuesday night. Police say three people were shot, one of whom has died. “‹ “‹The others are still in serious condition. 25 year old Marcus Easley is locked up at the Weakly County Detention Center after being on the run for more than 12 hours. Martin Police say he shot three people inside a home Monday night and residents who kn”‹o”‹w him say this all comes as a shock. “Never thought anything like this would ever happen,” Jay McMillin said “He was a good kid and it’s a tragedy.” Martin Police say Easley shot three people inside a home on Davis Street leaving one dead and two others seriously injured. “It was so close to me,” Cheryl Hamilton said. “Something like that is kind of scary in a way.” Residents say, Easley was well known in the community working at a local store. “I went in the store and talked with him a couple of times and he was great,” McMillin said. “But no one saw this coming.” Cheryl Hamilton said her children played sports with Easley. “He was a great basketball player, Hamilton said. “He was an all around good kid.” Hamilton also said she grew up with Easley’s mother and feels devastated for everyone involved. “When one of your kids doing something like this it’s heartbreaking in a way,” Hamilton said. “I hate it for the other people that were involved and got shot too.” Investigators have not said what may have prompted the gunfire. “‹Hamilton says she still can’t beli”‹e”‹ve he”‹’s suspected of”‹ such a heinous crime. “I hate it, to get angry like that and hurt someone else in that way,” Hamilton said. “I know the kid and I hate it for him.” Martin Police say Easley is currently charged with four counts of aggravated assault but additional or upgraded charges are “‹expected after the death of one of the victims. Police have not yet released the names of the victims in the shooting. Easley is set to appear in court Wednesday morning.
