Community to honor local law enforcement with Blue Strong tribute

JACKSON, Tenn. — Friday is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, and the Jackson-Madison County community will stand with the men and women in law enforcement with a Blue Strong tribute. At 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, a community prayer circle will be held for local law enforcement, according to a release from the city of Jackson. More than 150 members of local law enforcement will be in attendance including commanding officers with the Jackson Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Tennessee Highway Patrol and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. In addition to the prayer service, more than fifty local churches, businesses and restaurants are working together to feed all 443 members of local law enforcement throughout the day. The Blue Strong event also will feature music by Love and Truth Church Choir, a flyover by JPD helicopter, a performance of the National Anthem by Andrew Donnell, and performances by JPD and MCSD Color Guard with march cadence by Christopher Cooper. The community prayer circle will begin with an opening prayer by Pastor Jordan Easley of Englewood Baptist Church. Pastor Dennis Blalock of New St. Luke Baptist Church and Pastor Bill Luther of Love and Truth Church also will lead prayers. A closing prayer will be led by Bishop Nathaniel Bond of Light of Life Ministries.
