DOWNTOWN JACKSON — You didn’t have to go to Memphis or Tupelo to celebrate Elvis’ 80th birthday Thursday. The International Rockabilly Hall of Fame Museum in downtown Jackson celebrated the birthday of the rock ‘n’ roll icon and showcased some of his work. “Elvis changed everything,” said Lee Gaugh, a volunteer tour guide with the museum. “John Lennon said before Elvis there was nothing. He had such energy and such a combination of the genuine thing that it couldn’t be ignored.” Elvis’ first recording, made at Sun Records in Memphis back in 1953, will be auctioned off Saturday in Memphis along with several other items. Elvis paid $4 to record his first song, “My Happiness.”
