DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — A Millsfield fire truck flipped late Wednesday morning on Harness Road during a run for a house fire call. A Tennessee Highway Patrol report stated the volunteer firefighter driver was on his way to a house fire on Highway 78 when he ran off the right side of Harness Road. The vehicle rolled over a single time before it finally stopped on its wheels. Forked Deer line foreman Bubba Humphreys was one of the first on the scene. He said another car was involved, although that was not included in the THP report. “The volunteer fire department was traveling on Harness Road. A car was on his side of the road. It flipped the fire truck and hit the pole,” Humphreys said. He said the other driver did not stop and when troopers arrived they could not locate the car. Robert Lynn Ray said he saw the speeding fire truck from his home nearby and hoped no one was injured. “I don’t know how fast they were going, but he was going pretty fast,” Ray said. According to the THP report, the driver, volunteer firefighter Trent Roberson, suffered minor injuries. “I got a lot of cuts and scrapes. One big cut on my hand, and a bruise on the right side of my face,” Roberson said. Otherwise he said he’s okay. Utility crew workers said they didn’t experience any losses in power or service because of the incident. The Millsfield Fire Department did not return calls inquiring on how the crash affected the fire emergency.
