Man accused of leading Madison Co. deputies on chase through woods

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — A man was arrested Tuesday after deputies say he led them on a foot chase. Mark Stegall is charged with public intoxication and evading arrest. Deputies say a passerby called after spotting him along Ashport Road Tuesday night. Sheriff’s reports say he ran into the woods when deputies arrived, later falling off a log he was using to cross a creek, where he was said to have hurt his left arm. Stegall was arrested and taken to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital for treatment.
