Man officially charged in alleged hold-up attempt

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — A man accused in an alleged Sunday hold-up attempt was officially charged Monday in Jackson City Court. Erskine Eugene Curry is facing an aggravated assault charge on accusations of pulling a gun on a man near downtown Jackson, according to an affidavit. The alleged victim told police a black man, later identified as Curry, stopped in the middle of the street near The Jackson Sun and stared at him before asking “what’s up?” The man told police Curry then pulled a pistol and asked his name. The man said he then ran away from Curry. The victim told police the man was driving a black Honda, and officers found a vehicle fitting the description on Daugherty Street, according to the affidavit. The alleged victim identified Curry as the man who pulled the gun, the document states. Curry’s bond was set at $20,000.
