MIDTOWN JACKSON, Tenn. — A man is found dead inside an apartment at the Crestview Apartment complex Monday night. The Jackson Police Department has released few details about what happened and friends and neighbors said that gives them even more reason to worry. WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News spoke with interim Police Chief Julian Wiser on the scene and he is staying tight lipped. But did confirm a 33-year-old man was found dead but he would not comment on how the man died or if there is a killer on the run. A friend of the victim, who wanted to remain anonymous, said he saw the body. “He got shot more than 2 times in the head,” the victim’s friend said. If that proves true, city officials say it is troubling. “It’s disgusting to us as a community,” Jackson city councilman Johnny Dodd said. “It’s sad that we sit back and continue to let things like this happen.” According to a friend of the victim, the 33 year-old was a father trying to turn his life around. “He didn’t live here,” the friend said. “He was just coming to visit family members and to come and check on his children.” And with community members convinced crime is a growing problem they want things to change. “We need to come together, back, white, green, or yellow,” councilman Dodd said. “We need to see what we can do and continue to work together.” Again, Jackson Police are not saying if they are searching for a suspect or if any weapons were recovered at the apartment complex. Right now the chief will only say they are conducting a death investigation. If you have any information about this incident you’re asked to call Jackson Police (731) 424-8400 or Crime Stoppers (731) 424-TIPS (8477).
