EAST JACKSON — The children at a Jackson head start school honored the 50th anniversary of the march in Selma and also the memory of lost family members on Tuesday. The kids at Washington-Douglass Headstart made special memorial tags to honor those lost. School leaders say they want to send a clear message to the community and to the children of West Tennessee. “To all those who hinder violence here in Jackson, that no matter where you go, no matter where you stand, no matter what you try to do to bring violence into our city, we stand united and we are going to take the fight to you, will never surrender our children to you,” said Jamie Elliott with Washington-Douglass Head Start. Dozens of families and students participated.
