MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Kindergarten students in Bemis set a big goal Friday — to read 100 books in 30 minutes. The students at The Montessori School at Bemis made the effort Friday for the 100th Day of Reading, and middle school students along with some special people from the community joined in to help. Local firefighters and police officers, members of the school board and Mayor Jerry Gist served as buddy readers. Teachers recorded the titles read on sticky notes and posted them on a wall in the classroom to count them at the end of the 30 minutes.
