Judge: No more appeals for Beau the dog case

DYERSBURG, Tenn. — A new date is set next Friday for a dog deemed vicious by police to be euthanized, and the dog’s owner replaces an attorney representing the interests of the dog. However, the defense has filed a motion in city court Tuesday to vacate all charges. The dog, named Beau, is a German Shepherd/Lab mix deemed dangerous by the city after officials said he killed a duck and tried to attack a child last fall. Danny Higgins, owner of Beau, replaced the lawyer just a week before the dog is scheduled to be put down next Friday at noon. Dyer County Circuit Court Judge Lee Moore said during Friday’s hearing the circuit court appeals process has been exhausted. “I want Higgins to make a judicial decision and stop playing games and help save his dog,” Moore said.
