Madison Co. sheriff: Beware of scam calls asking for money to pay fines

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Someone has been running a scam in the Madison County area, and the sheriff’s office says the scammer is pretending to be working for them. An unknown male had been making calls from 731-223-0923 and saying they are with the warrants division of the department, according to a release from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. The caller then asks for money to settle existing fines, according to the release. The sheriff’s office does not contact anyone requesting money for any reason, the release states.
