DRESDEN, Tenn. — Multiple West Tennessee rescues teamed up Saturday to save more than forty puppies from a hoarder’s home in Dresden. “We see a lot of cases of people not wanting to spay and neuter their pets,” Adrian Paige said. “We don’t get a ton of cases with hoarders, but they are difficult to work with because they think they are doing best for their dogs.” Paige is the owner of Best Chance Rescue. She says the woman who owns the home was asked to give her dogs to a rescue. “She started with three, and now they are running out of the house in big droves,” Robyn Bingham said. Officials said the owner of the home will not face criminal charges because she agreed to release the puppies to a rescue. “These dogs are in much better condition than I expected because stereotypically, you expect the worst,” Bingham said. Rescues said the puppies were well fed and taken care of. They also said the reason there were so many dogs is because the owner neglected to spay or neuter her pets. “Spay and neuter your pets, because there are already enough puppies and dogs that are homeless,” Kathy Allen said. The rescue organizations said all the puppies have to be checked by a vet and get their required shots before they will be up for adoption in two weeks.
