McNAIRY COUNTY, Tenn. — A flag that’s traveled the world since Sept. 11, 2001 honoring first responders made a stop Monday in McNairy County to pay tribute to legendary sheriff Buford Pusser. McNairy County Sheriff Guy Buck saluted the flag and carried it to the crash site where Pusser died. With a ceremonial tap, the flag was taken to the memorial and placed back in the vehicle where it will continue to travel. The flag honors those who have died in service throughout the years. “This flag, since 9/11, has been travelling all over the nation to honor fallen police officers, firefighters and soldiers who have paid the ultimate price,” Chris Heisler with the Honor Network said. Heisler founded the organization, and through a microchip the flag can be tracked across the globe.
