HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center has received a grant to help encourage the arts at local schools. The Dixie announced Monday it has been selected for the South Arts Dance Touring Initiative. The funds will allow the theater to bring dance programs into local schools for another three years. Those at the theater say they’re glad to be able to bring more arts to school-age children. “It’s so good for the kids in this area because they’re going to get to grow up having all this in their back,” said Angela Chasse with the Dixie. “It’s just a wonderful thing for them to experience something that they’re not going to experience elsewhere.” The Dixie is one of just three theaters in Tennessee to be selected to participate in the program.
