Statutory rape case against volunteer first responder sent to grand jury

GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn. — The statutory rape case against a volunteer first responder has been waived to a grand jury. Matthew McKnight, 22, is accused of the statutory rape of a 16-year-old girl. During a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Gibson County Circuit Court, his case was bound over to the grand jury and set for 9 a.m. April 13. McKnight was a volunteer for the Humboldt Area Rescue Squad.
