NORTH JACKSON — Plans for a Chick-fil-A restaurant to be opened on the campus of Union University have been halted — for the time being, at least. The change of plans comes after higher than expected construction bids and a requirement by the current food service contractor to increase meal plan costs for students, according to a letter sent to students Friday by university president Samuel W. “Dub” Oliver. However, the current food service contract ends in May, and a committee soon will evaluate three or four contractors, according to the letter. The committee is expected to make a decision about the school’s food contractor by the first of May.
