JACKSON, Tenn. – Lane College football has filled another coaching position with a familiar face. In January, the school welcomed back Derrick Burroughs to take over as the new athletic director and head football coach. Reuniting with Burroughs on the sidelines as offensive coordinator is Malik Hoskins. “I’m excited. We had a pretty decent run in 2013,” said Hoskins. The Dragons finished 6-4 that year and led the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in several offensive categories. Burroughs hopes him and Hoskins can reach that mark again. “I went after him diligently. It’s important to have people you trust,” said Burroughs. “It’s a comfortability factor.” Hoskins resigned from Lane’s head coaching position in November. He says he maintained a good relationship while Burroughs was a defensive coordinator at Jackson State in Mississippi. “It goes beyond football. We’re more like brothers,” said Hoskins.
