BOLIVAR, Tenn. — In December 2014, investigators said Clarence Minter was gunned down in his friend’s home. Leaders with the Bolivar Police Department say they have arrested two known gang members believed to be linked to the death of Minter. Police said they have now charged Kuryakin Woods with first-degree murder and two other counts Johnathan Genes also has been charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. “It’s bittersweet because not only have we lost one life, but three lives are gone because the gentleman accused of killing my brother, their lives are gone as well,” Caleb Minter said. Investigators said Woods and Minter got into an argument just days before the shooting. A few days later, investigators said Minter and Woods got into another argument at the house where he eventually was shot. “I know of one of them, and I actually think one of them is friends with the family,” Caleb Minter said. Police said Woods is the one who fired two shots into the window and that one of them hit Minter in the cheek. The bullet went down his throat and lodged in his lung. Minter died nine days later. The mother of the victim spoke to WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News and said she is praying for the families and hopes the men accused in her son’s death can find God. The two men are scheduled to appear in court Feb. 24.
