Jackson police: Officer assaulted, sent to hospital

JACKSON, Tenn. — A Jackson police officer is assaulted and sent to the hospital, according to officials. The department’s spokesperson, Derick Tisdale, said an officer was assaulted at a gas station just before 7 p.m. Sunday off of Carriage House Drive and North Highland Avenue. Tisdale said the officer was not on a call. Officials said the officer is being treated at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police have a man in custody, but no charges have been filed.
