EAST JACKSON — In celebration of Black History Month, one of Jackson’s finest spoke with students at Jackson State Community College. Capt. Tyreece Miller serves as commander of the criminal investigation division. He spoke Monday with students about the importance of education and how important it is for student to not only attend school but get a degree. Miller says he hopes he reached just one person. “Growing up I looked up to police officers, and I hope that there’s somebody up there, out there that looks up to me as being a police officer, and so if I can inspire someone to be better than what they ever thought they could be, then I’ve done my job,” Miller said. Miller has served on the force since 1997.
