JACKSON, Tenn. — As of Thursday, exactly which names will appear on the ballot for the Jackson municipal election in May have been determined. Thursday afternoon, the election commission met to review the list of candidates for mayor and city council and approve them. Thursday was the last day for approved candidates to withdraw from the election. Election officials say on May 5, voters who usually cast ballots at the UT Ag Center on Airways Boulevard will have to vote at a different location. “We use the UT Center for Research as a an election polling place, and there’s extensive remodeling being done there so we’re going to move that precinct temporarily just for this one election,” said Kim Buckley, administrator of elections for Madison County. Buckley says those voters’ precinct will be the election commission office on North Parkway, but only for this election. The last day to register to vote in the May 5 election is April 6. Early voting begins April 15. For a full list of candidates, look for the link in the Seen on 7 section of our website.
