JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson Christian School hosted its annual recycled art exhibition Thursday. The school’s gym was turned into an art gallery, and the displays were not part of art class, but science class. Students in 4th through 8th grades used all recycled, repurposed and reused items. Teachers told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News they hope this project will encourage students to think of ways to recycle instead of throwing everything away. “God has given us responsibility to take care of our environment, and there’s a lot of ways that you can creatively use things that you have in your house,” said Tami Myers, a JCS science teacher. “Do something fun with it, another purpose besides throwing it away.” At least 75 percent of each project had to be made of recycled items.
