Tennessee Education Lottery Educator of the Week: Lisa Hale

BEECH BLUFF, Tenn. — Singing, praising and hands-on learning are the main ingredients for Lisa Hale’s Pre-K classroom. “Well, 4-year-olds — we move around a lot,” Hale said. “We go from one thing to another, lessons are short and a lot of hands on.” Hale has been teaching at Beech Bluff Elementary for almost 19 years. She uses compassion to inspire her students. “They love to make each other happy and please each other, and that goes a long way,” she said. Hale says teaching has always been an inspiration in her life. “I come from a family of teachers,” Hale said. “It just seemed like the natural things to do. [I’ve] always loved the little ones and want to inspire in them a love for learning — I want them to love to come to school.” The Pre-K teacher says for students this age, establishing a routine is essential. “It gives them a chance to quickly learn how to get along with others, and they quickly learn how to get into a routine, and they love a routine.” Her goal is to instill life-long lessons that can grow with the children. “Even at this young age, we work on problem solving with relationships with one another,” she said.
