HORNSBY, Tenn. — To have something stolen from you is not the greatest feeling. For David Hurst, he said it is a feeling of violation and disgust. “I’ve seen the tarp sitting there laying on the ground. I knew someone had stolen the four-wheeler,” Hurst said. Since then, Hurst is taking a new approach to catching the person who stole his prized possession by offering a unique reward. “The four-wheeler itself with two sets of keys and a title as a reward for any information leading to the arrest of these people,” Hurst said. Hurst suspects the people who took his items might also be from Hornsby in Hardeman County. He said after talking to several people in town who have had four-wheelers and other equipment taken from their yards in the past six months, he believes it is a problem that needs to be taken care of. Hurst said he has put up flyers in Alabama, Mississippi and surrounding West Tennessee counties to spread the word. Hurst has even gone to extreme lengths to catch the thieves. He said he has revamped security by laying plywood boards with nails, adding new security cameras and some other tricks he would not disclose. But he said his unique reward may just be enough. “For his friends, ‘Merry Christmas’ early if you can turn your buddy in. How good of a buddy are you really?” Hurst said.
